Victory palms
Since the most recent invasion of Iraq in 2003, over a million
Iraqis have been killed. There has also been a bombing war
on the date groves of Iraq, the source of life, the symbol
of victory; this image was engraved for Voices after one such
attack in early 2008.

Your company killed my child
This engraving was made for a British Aerospace AGM. In the
1990s BAe were earning their shareholders large profits
through the
sale of Hawk fighter aircraft to the Indonesian government.
These aircraft contributed to the killing of a third of the
population of East Timor. One of the UK’s leading war
profiteers BAe has made a fortune out of the wars in Iraq
and Afghanistan.
Afghan Woman
This papercut was made in 2007 for a Voices in the Wilderness
sticker campaign. Afghanistan is a land of beautiful people
mutilated by decades of bombs.
Basra - between bombing and sanctions
This engraving was made in 1999. Iraqis were suffering from
the effects of the UN sanctions which caused the health
services, the economy and civilian
infrastructure to collapse, and the deaths of hundreds of
thousands of children. In January 1999 the UK/US bombed the
poor al-Jumhuriya
neighbourhood in Basra killing 17 people, including 10 children,
injuring about 100, and damaging or destroying 45 houses.
 Haditha
This engraving was made in 2006. It is a single panel from
a triptych that includes all the people massacred by
US troops in a row of houses in Haditha, western Iraq. Over
several hours the soldiers killed child by child,
family by
family.
