Press release Wednesday April 9th 13:30
Anti war activists due in court Thursday April 10th
5 anti war activists arrested for highway obstruction during
Sunday's anti war blockade at PJHQ Northwood (Britain's military
HQ in NW London) will appear for a plea hearing tomorrow (Thursday
April 10th) at Watford Magistrates Court 10am.
Gabriel Carlyle (London), Nick Gill (Cambridge), Andrea Needham
(Hastings) , Nyana Joti (Brighton) and one other were arrested
while sitting in the road in front of the main gates at Northwood
this weekend, during Reclaim Northwood, one of over fifteen
anti war actions as part of the Reclaim the Bases weekend, www.reclaimthebases.org.uk.
Gabriel Carlyle, joint co ordinator of anti war group Voices
in the Wilderness UK said, "As the US military continues to
load cluster bombs and other munitions onto its planes at USAF
Fairford, the Red Cross reports that Baghdad' s hospitals are
being 'pushed to the limit', and Amnesty International is warning
that, because of US and British bombing, thousands of children
are at risk of potentially fatal diseases from drinking contaminated
water."
"Now, more than ever, it is crucial for ordinary members of
the British public to stand up for international law and resist
this illegal and immoral invasion."
